📖 Reading Your Chart
A complete BaZi reading follows a structured process — moving from raw data to deep interpretation. Here are the five essential steps practiced by BaZi consultants worldwide.
Convert your birth year, month, day, and hour into the traditional Chinese calendar to derive four Stem-Branch pairs. Each pair maps to a specific energetic combination from the sixty Jiazi (甲子) cycle.
The Day Stem is your Day Master — the element that represents you. Determine whether your Day Master is strong (well-supported by surrounding elements) or weak (drained or controlled), as this shapes the entire interpretation.
Count the Five Elements across all eight characters. Identify which elements are in excess, which are deficient, and which are entirely absent. This balance reveals personality tendencies, health risks, and the types of environments where you thrive.
Examine combinations, clashes, harms, and punishments between branches. Look for stem combinations that produce new elements. These interactions modify the raw element count and reveal hidden dynamics in relationships, career, and health.
